About the Author
Twice Greg Rhodes and his wife, Heidi, have lived as expats in China, once many years ago (1988-1989) and again more recently, in 2005-2006. The first trip was a post-college, pre-career exploit in the still-emerging country, and the second was a family adventure with their two children in the rapidly-modernizing nation. Between trips Greg has worked for others and worked for himself while always wondering where those planes taking off at the airport are going. Greg has a passion for photography and local people when he travels, and his list of places to visit just keeps getting longer.

I found the book quite interesting although I would fall into the group who asked "why China". I think it was extremely brave of Greg & Hiedi to introduce their children to China. The everyday things we take for granted must have been eye opening to them. I felt the book was well organized and while it wasn't riviting it kept me interested. After reading Safely Home by Randy Alcorn about China, this book altered my vision of China to some extent. I admired how well the family adjusted, offered and recieved the gift of friendship. I felt the family were true ambassador's of good will and not judgemental of the people or the government of China.

I know the family. I recommend this book to anyone that wants to read a great family story. Greg takes your and you travel the back roads and alley ways of China with him and his family.
